I thought the premiere would be later this week. It is strange that she wasn't there, though. :?:

Does anyone know if there's going to be a NYC premiere?

I want to say I'm disappointed that she didn't show up, but I had no idea there was even going to be premiere last night and I had to go to bed early.

Interview with the director, which reveals that there will be deleted scenes on the blu-ray (among others), involving Jane in Asgard:

Looks like Ben was in Israel 4-5 days ago.

So I guess that's where Natalie was and why she wasn't at the premiere.

Thor: The Dark World is in the 60s on rotten tomatoes.

I finally saw it yesterday w/ The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (which ruled thanks in part to my darling Jena Malone) as I really liked this one more than the first. Here's my full review. Thank you.

Natalie Portman: Chris Hemsworth's Wife Elsa Pataky Grabbed a Wig and Stood in for Me in Thor: The Dark World Love Scene

Chris Hemsworth didn't have to fake anything during the filming of Thor: The Dark World, especially while shooting its memorable love scene.

His costar Natalie Portman revealed that when she couldn't make it back to the Marvel set for a pickup shoot, the Aussie hunk's real-life wife, Elsa Pataky, put on a wig and filled in for her as Dr. Jane Foster during their big kissing scene at the end of the credits.

"It was for reshoots and he was working in Hong Kong and I couldn't get there because I was working on my own film," Portman told the New York Daily News. "And so they put his wife in my wig and costume. That's why it was so passionate."

I have yet to see this movie.

...and now I have.

I was kind of unimpressed with it, tbh. Way too long, and the camp was over the top. They seemed to be having trouble finding a good balance between being silly and serious (the first Thor movie did this much more successfully). I had to opposite problem with Thor: The Dark World than I did with Thor. This time, everything set on Earth really worked for me, but Asgard fell flat. I found myself losing interest when Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston weren't onscreen, which was entirely too often. Mads Mikkelsen really dodged a bullet, because the villain was lame, lame, lame.

Natalie was pretty adorable, but her character was still a useless plot device. Jane disappointingly didn't have much to do outside of fainting whenever convenient and mooning really unconvincing over Thor. Maybe the romance would have worked if Natalie and Chris had any onscreen chemistry (they don't), but I'm betting it would have still felt really awkward and forced.

Tl;dr: I guess this just wasn't my thing.
