Jane Got A Gun Discussion Thread

Deadline Hollywood is exclusively reporting that Joel Edgerton is in talks for Jane Got A Gun:

Joel Edgerton is in negotiations to join the cast of Jane Got A Gun, the Lynne Ramsey-directed Western action film that stars Natalie Portman and Michael Fassbender. It is set to start shooting early next year. The pic centers on Jane Hammond (Portman), who reaches out to her ex-lover (Fassbender) to help her when her outlaw husband becomes the target of a violent gang. Edgerton would play John Bishop, the leader of the gang coming to kill Hammond’s husband. Edgerton will soon to be seen in the Kathryn Bigelow-directed Zero Dark Thirty, playing the Squadron Team Leader in the film about the hunt for Osama bin Laden. He also co-stars in The Great Gatsby and Felony, both of which are due out next year. He is repped by CAA.

News roundup:

Synopsis:

Young and pretty with a soul of pure steel, Jane Hammond (Natalie Portman) is a good girl married to one of the worst baddies in town. When her husband Bill turns against his own gang, the vicious Bishop Boys, and returns home barely alive with eight bullets in his back, Jane knows it’s time to ditch the dress for a pair of pants and strap on her own gun. As the relentless leader John Bishop gears up for revenge, Jane’s best hope for her family’s survival rests with her old love Dan Frost (Michael Fassbender) – a gunslinger whose hatred for Bill is only slightly overshadowed by his love for Jane. Together Jane and Dan spring clever traps, luring Bishop’s men to certain death just as their old feelings for each other resurface amidst the flying bullets.

With director Lynne Ramsay (WE NEED TO TALK ABOUT KEVIN, MORVERN CALLAR) at the helm, the rich dimensions of these characters find their best ally with Jane out in front, taking her fate into her own hands with the kind of bravado legends are made of.

This will be definitely among one of my most anticipated films for late 2013/2014.

I love Lynne Ramsay's work.

I noticed on the main site you mention this is filming at the start of Feb, I can't remember if it has been mentioned, do we know where they are going to be filming this?

They were aiming for Feb. Not sure if that's the case but considering they were looking for extras in December it shouldn't be too far off. Think they were gonna film around New Mexico.

Thanks Dazza, wonder if we'll see Natalie before then, I don't think we'll get much pics from filming so it could be a while before we see Nat

I have zero opinion on Rodrigo. Wasn't he rumoured to be dating Natalie at one point?

Knew this would happen as soon as Rodrigo was announced: http://www.intouchweekly.com/?redirurl=stars/news/exclusive-natalie-portman-and-husband-benjamin-millepieds-fight-over-her-ex. And it has unfortunately.

Hilariously, she probably has yet to meet Rodrigo. We all know their "relationship" was non-existent.
