Only 2,000 theatres for Annihilation next week:

https://mobile.twitter.com/ERCboxoffice ... 2320881665

Lo-fi sci-fi. Alex Garland's ANNIHILATION drops in just 2,000+ theaters next weekend. Garland's first film, A24's EX MACHINA topped out at that number in week 5 of release. Similarly, Paramount's ARRIVAL debuted in 2,300+, before expanding to 3,100+ by week 5.

It is obvious that Paramount does not trust the movie's box office possibilities. In addition, the film will be available in internet as soon as it debuts on Netflix internationally, so we can only hope it becomes a surprise success ... or a cult movie.

Metacritic: 86 based on 17 critics.

Rotten Tomatoes: 90% (average rating 8.3/10), with 29 reviews.

After all the waiting and the behind the scenes drama, these reviews GIVE ME LIFE!

I'm looking forward to seeing it, even if it's on Netflix in three weeks...

So I was able to see the movie earlier tonight and I'll say that overall I really enjoyed the film, but I am still fully processing the film as a whole. First I'll say that Natalie and all the women are fantastic and make a great team with some interesting dynamics. Top 3 cast wise for me would be 1. Natalie, she is pretty much in every scene and carries the movie great. She goes through a range of emotions and is never once not believable, her scenes with Oscar Isaac and Tuva were some of my favorite in the whole film. 2. Tessa Thompson, I really enjoyed Tessa here, overall Tessa is a hit or miss with me as an actress, but here I really loved her, she has a quietness about her and a volnurabulity that really drew me in and I connected with hee character the most I think. 3.Oscar/Tuva I know kinda of a cheat, but I really enjoyed both and mainly due to their interactions with Natalie. The film really is it's own kind of beast and was simultaneously what I expected and also was more of something I didn't expect at the same time, if that makes sense lol. It is a very intellectual film that does make you do some deep thinking and if you give into that and are open to it you will really enjoy this film like I did. There were a few things that didn't quite work for me 100%, but j won't get into that for sake of spoiling anything. The visuals too are amazing, a truly beautiful film to watch. Overall I'd give it a 7.5 right now, but as I process the film more I can see the number rising, it's not my fave Natalie film, but it is a great film none the less!!! I'll also say that I liked garlands first film, Ex Machina, better than this, but only by a slim margin.
