Site Slowness

Postby Rachel » Fri Dec 14, 2012 1:51 am

Is NP.com mercilessly slow for anyone else, or is it just me? Everyday after about 4:00 PM CST, it slows to a crawl. :\

Edit: It took approx. two minutes to "Wait for natalieportman.com" to post this. That's not normal, right?

I'm not a fan of the font choice. It looks cluttered and hard to read at times.

I nominate Arial 13-14pt.
Or ye olde Verdana (can't go wrong with that one).

Works fine with me.

Some suggestions:
not a fan of the font of the body text too, and the gradient (?) background makes it hard to read at times. I vote Open Sans.

On my end, the section after the banner has a huge blank space on the right, maybe you can make the thumbnails smaller and turn the whole thing into a slider?

The quote on the homepage is hard too read because the font color is too light

Screenshots or it didn't happen. Can't fix anything if we can't see the problem.

I don't have that problems ...
I use Firefox on my PC and Opera on my mobile and everything works and looks fine with both ...

I don't mind the font, however I've noticed that it doesn't display accented characters (I see a question mark in a diamond as a placeholder instead):

I see that too.

My browser's using UTF-8 encoding if that helps with figuring it out.

The font color on the quotes are okay now but when I first saw it it was really light.

It turns that my notebook's small screen resolution messes up the width of the top section after the banner. When I adjusted it everything is fine but freaking huge.
