Remember when Kasparov split from the FIDE? Allah learned nothing from his matches, so what makes you think he's learned from his mistakes away from the board?

So, I'm emancipating myself from the "What are you listening to right now?" thread, and founding a thread where either smugness will prevail, the unclean will simply infiltrate and return me to square-one, or, most likely, it will fail to catch on.

I do have problems with the music thread, like the practice of vacuumonously listing -- as advertised -- what one is listening to, particularly by song. This seems to favor inanity over legitimate discussion and sharing, which is really more my style. But mostly I think the thread is just outgrowing itself, and it's hard for me and the handful of like-minded hipsters who care what going on today to share and discuss, when a thoughtful post is blown three pages back, under a torrent of eight-letter posts noting, one song at a time, that you've just listened to Blood on the Tracks, for the 10th time this week (not that that's not an ill joint).

No hard feelings, and I'll probably fall on my face and return to the fold, but for the time being I'll be using this thread from my uploads, disjoint thoughts and Pitchfork regurgitation.

Please enjoy this upload of one of the greatest Hip-Hop albums ever, which was buried in an as-described onslaught:

Jay-Z - Blueprint

Will be interesting to see how jay-z is received at the Glastonbury festival
after the some of the bullshit dredged up over the past month

Live, large venue Hip-Hop is such a weird animal. I don't think Hip-Hop was ever meant to be heard like that, and the music suffers for it.

I'd agree with that but to blame him/rap for slow ticket sales because he's the headline act on a 7 stage festival that spans 3 days is just pure bollocks

Oh, yeah, in fact I would guess that he/live Hip-Hop quality have nearly nothing to do with ticket sales. Glastonbury is bloated, overpriced, and perceivably uncool.

That's a sick crop of albums, there. I hadn't noticed the MM influence, but I'll keep an open ear, next time I spin it, which should be this weekend.

Anyone watch this video, when I posted it in the other thread?:

The album is good, but not great. There are some really cool songs, but they're spread out betwixt at lot of mediocre stuff, and it wears out its welcome. If would have been a great EP.

There's a torrent up on Demoniod, and come June I'll probably upload some of it along with other cool tracks I didn't really feel justified the their entire record.

I'm not nuts for the Arctic Moneys. It's my understanding that they're absolutely huge in the UK, and the only reason I can see that they're not in the US is that they're so fucking British. Which to me is their main selling point. They're fun guitar music, but if I were English or didn't have such a hard-on for lines like "tracky bottoms tucked in socks," I doubt I'd even own their records. I'll bet it's been a year since I spun them.

They were really big here, but then we got bored of them. You get that sort of band popping out of London every five minutes.

And Wales. Lots of them in Cardiff.

Anyone watch the Radiohead thing on VH1? Very cool; more nonIn Rainbows material than one might've expected.
