Turn-offs and deal breakers?

Anything Goes

I find this funny in ways that probably won't transfer across consciousnesses, but I just realized that we have these discussions about relationships and appearance like we're adults who know what we're talking about, and here I am having just realized that I'm wearing sweat pants and my "Proud Morehouse Parent" T-shirt, wearing a mood ring I found today, and am drinking out of a bowl, because my foster brother didn't wash the cups. I laughed, anyway.

Long nails (real or fake), snobish, and playing games are some of the major turn-offs for me.

This is a baby/bathwater situation: if you rule out the gamesplayers, doesn't that pretty much rule out the crazy ones, too? That's a thin dating pool you're looking at. The goal should be to learn to out play them.

I definately agree with what you're saying w/r/t organic/manufactured drama, but I would say about 100% of the datably crazy are compulsively going to try to head-fuck you a little bit, and those relationships can be fun.

Boy I'm glad I clearly fall into the "few" category.

My own deal breakers and turn offs.

- Hardcore religious.
- Drugs and big time drinker.
- Regular smoker.
- Party animal.
- Cold hearted. Hard. Unemotional.
- Long nails. Tons of makeup. Crazy assed earrings and tons of bling.
- Plastic surgery. Fake tans.
- Hates the outdoors/nature.
- Music, Movies, Sports, Internet...must have some appreciation or at least acceptance of those things.
- No sense of humour.
- Close minded.
- Very sexual in public. I know I know, I just prefer it to be private.

That's pretty much what my list would look like also.

No problems with it in private, Rach? That wouldn't bother me too much because I'm pretty much the same. Just find it very hard to relax in public.

No, I meant like with a family member...boyfriend...best friend.

Cos if thats the case then that'd be very tough. In a way it doesn't matter if you ARE emotionally unavailable or just appear to be, the result for the other person would be the same.

I'm sure the sex would make up for it though :P

PDA is not something that bothers me or something I'm particularly disposed towards. My dignaty comes from a sense of indignant superiority I exude for no tangible reason, and I've built such an unimpeachable databank of awesome and such a baseline of impressive behavior that a girlfriend and I could show up to the party in matching outfits and no one would think of me as anything less than messiah. Hahaha, I'm so great.

What about happiness or anger or pleasure? I mean, crying is a big deal to a lot of people so I don't think feeling you have to hide that is all that unusual.

I really like opening up but I can only do it when I'm veeery comfortable with someone. But with that person I can be incredibly open. I think my parents and friends would be amazed to see me like that.

Maybe some day you'll find a guy (or even a friend) that makes you feel safe enough to really let those walls come down.

And shit, even if not, there are plenty of guys who would love a women who doesn't bring the drama.

Rach, I know a guy -- my jogging partner, actually -- who works in a cubical. He's the nicest, coldest guy in the world. One day he went for a run. When he came back, there was a an ambulance leaving with a covered body. He sat down at his desk, not inquiring. A co-worker came over, told him so-in-so died while he was out. Without missing a beat or emoting at all, he reached into his rolodex, and throw away his contact information, as the woman looked on in horror. He claims he wasn't trying to be funny. Beat that.
