I used to draw as a kid, but lost interest. I've been interested in getting back into messing around with it, and if I could do it digitally that would be absolutely perfect.

How doable is mouse+keyboard drawing for like graphic novel-type art, and is Photoshop the best program?

Also, anyone recommend like a particular educational resource they like?

Not doable at all in my opinion. The action of using a mouse is completely different to using a pencil so neither contribute to eachother, there's no pen pressure (which is important, even if you're only doing linework) and a bunch of other stuff. I'd invest in a good but cheap Wacom tablet, probably tbe Bamboo. This is their cheapest tablet, around $60 new, but all their products are high quality and will be fine for what you want to do.

Photoshop is probably the best program for this, another popular program is Corel Painter but it's generally used for more painterly, illustrative kind of works (these can usually be achieved in PS too though). I have Painter but I'm pretty useless at it and largely stick to PS.

I pretty much live on the conceptart.org forums and I've learned a ridiculous amount there.

Thank, C-lo. Your opinion seems to be a concurrent one, and I've been having trouble making anything look like I want and wasn't quite sure if I could do it without a tablet or not. There are some people on Youtube not using them for the style I'm after, but their stuff also looks like shit. I wasn't sure I cared, as I have no clue what I'm doing, but the think is 55$US on Amazon, so fuck it.

Thanks again.
