Well... it seems Natalie was attached to Vox Lux... until now :|

http://variety.com/2017/film/news/bold-films-laying-off-half-of-its-employees-1202639671/

Following a handful of box office disappointments, Bold Films will be laying off roughly half of its 14 employees.

The layoffs began this past Friday and are the result of underwhelming box office grosses, including the Jake Gyllenhaal film “Stronger.” Sources also say that production on Brady Corbet’s “Vox Lux” has been delayed. Natalie Portman had been attached to star in the picture, but her involvement is now in question. It’s unclear if her schedule will be free when shooting on the film begins.

Among those let go are Lisa Zambri, SVP of production and development. However, her counterpart, Jon Oakes, will remain on in the same position.

Bold Films has bet on auteur-driven projects, producing the likes of “Nightcrawler” and “Whiplash,” while inking “first look” deals with Ben Stiller’s Red Hour Productions and Jake Gyllenhaal’s Nine Stories Productions.

What a bad luck :(

December 19, 2017 – The Genesis Prize Foundation announced today that Israeli philanthropist and humanitarian Morris Kahn has made a $1 million gift to the Genesis Prize Foundation in honor of 2018 Laureate Natalie Portman.

Morris Kahn’s gift doubles the 2018 Genesis Prize Award Fund to $2 million.

World-renowned actress, director and social activist Natalie Portman became the 5th Genesis Prize Laureate in November 2017. In keeping with tradition established by the previous Laureates who have “re-gifted” their awards, Natalie Portman announced that award funds would be granted to programs focusing on advancing women’s equality in all aspects of human endeavor. A significant portion of the funds will go to support NGOs working in the field of women’s rights in Israel.

“I would like to express my gratitude and admiration to Morris Kahn for his incredible support of the 2018 Genesis Prize theme,” said Portman. “Morris’ generosity once again reinforces how relevant and important the issue of women’s equality is today – in Israel, in the US and beyond.”

Powerful Hollywood Women Unveil Anti-Harassment Action Plan

https://www.nytimes.com/2018/01/01/movies/times-up-hollywood-women-sexual-harassment.html

Driven by outrage and a resolve to correct a power imbalance that seemed intractable just months ago, 300 prominent actresses and female agents, writers, directors, producers and entertainment executives have formed an ambitious, sprawling initiative to fight systemic sexual harassment in Hollywood and in blue-collar workplaces nationwide.

The initiative includes:

— A legal defense fund, backed by $13 million in donations, to help less privileged women — like janitors, nurses and workers at farms, factories, restaurants and hotels — protect themselves from sexual misconduct and the fallout from reporting it.

— Legislation to penalize companies that tolerate persistent harassment, and to discourage the use of nondisclosure agreements to silence victims.

— A drive to reach gender parity at studios and talent agencies that has already begun making headway.

— And a request that women walking the red carpet at the Golden Globes speak out and raise awareness by wearing black.

Other Time’s Up members include the actresses Ashley Judd, Eva Longoria, America Ferrera, Natalie Portman, Rashida Jones, Emma Stone, Kerry Washington and Reese Witherspoon; the showrunner Jill Soloway; Donna Langley, chairwoman of Universal Pictures; the lawyers Nina L. Shaw and Tina Tchen, who served as Michelle Obama’s chief of staff; and Maria Eitel, an expert in corporate responsibility who is co-chairwoman of the Nike Foundation.

Preview: Oprah Winfrey hosts panel on impact of Time's Up campaign:

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/preview-oprah-winfrey-hosts-panel-on-impact-of-times-up-campaign/

Some of the most prominent women in Hollywood open up to Oprah Winfrey about the impact of the Time's Up campaign on raising awareness of sexual harassment in the workplace, and what they'd like to see in the future, in a revealing discussion to be broadcast on CBS' "Sunday Morning" January 14.

Actresses America Ferrera, Natalie Portman, Tracee Ellis-Ross and Reese Witherspoon, producer Shonda Rimes ("Scandal"), Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy, and attorney Nina Shaw gathered with Winfrey in Pasadena, California, earlier this week to talk about the efforts to bring change to how women are treated in the entertainment industry and around the world.
