Thanks man. Not quite what we're looking for though. But you can't go wrong with machete's on fire.

Might I suggest that you post a comic script page. Not even part of the actual comic idea but just a test page. That way you can see how well an artist can follow a script as well as the artist getting to see what they're going to be working off of.

Thats exactly what I do once things have gotten to the third step. The first step being someone wanting the job and contacting me and the second being showing me a sample of their work. If I like what I see then a test page like the one you mentioned is the next step.

At the moment I'm waiting for a test page from someone who has a lot of promise.

Not bad. Do you do colouring as well?

The guy who had a lot of promise had to pull out as $70 per page wasn't enough for him.

A lot of people view test pages as somewhat of an insult. If they've got a portfolio you can look at that - what other kind of job could people be expected to work for free?

But it's not for free, it's up to $70 per page, which is quite a sum.

It's not for free my dear, as the ad on the front page says, we're shelling out $70 per page.

Nat fans are utterly ruthless when it comes to an accurate depiction of Natalie. An artist could be wonderful but if they can't really nail Nat's look then it won't go down well.

There are other concerns as well, like if they are able to tell a story. Seeing a poster type image can't tell me that.

I'm not talking about the job, I'm refering to the test page.

If someone's that wonderful an artist they should be able to portray a celebrity =D These things can be gauged from portfolios/past work.

If I was good at drawing people, the $70 would be fine with me.

Ah, right, sorry.

The very best portfolio's, sure. Most portfolio's that have been submitted to me, no. Even my last artist Steven didn't really have a good handle on Nat's face until we talked about it a lot and he kept tweaking it till he got a good approximation. A lot of guys have portfolio's of a different style of drawing, some don't have any females in their portfolio's etc.

For the test page I don't ask for a fully finished page. Some of it can be just pencil, some inked and some fully coloured.
